Department of Ophthalmology

 

Introduction

     The fundamental of ophthalmology department was initialized with the lecture and practical lesson of ophthalmology from Russian ophthalmologist Bajenov A.S. on 1946. In 1947, first 13 medical doctors were graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Mongolian National University, and first Mongolian ophthalmologist Nyamaa Renchin was one of them.      

     Department of Ophthalmology was established by the order of the Dean of the Mongolian Medical University in 1995. Main activity of our department is undergraduate training for 5th year students of School of Medicine, 6th year students of School of Dentistry and International University of Mongolian Traditional Medicine. Our residency program was first training for 3 years, the successor of international program, at affiliated public hospitals including 3rd General hospital, Children and Maternal hospital and top private eye clinics. Therefore, master’s degree and doctor of philosophy degree studies carries out successfully.

     We are specialized in Glaucoma, Oculoplastic, Cornea, Retina, Pediatric ophthalmology, Neuro ophthalmology, Ocular Oncology, Uveitis, and Low vision, mainly concentrated at Mongolian Japanese Hospital and affiliated specialized eye clinics.
